The once-a-year festivities include two flagship community events, and convenient ways to tour homes and discover what it might be like to live in Paradise or Magalia, California!

Johnny Appleseed Days

When

  • Saturday, Oct. 5th, from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 6th, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.


Where


Whether you're a local looking to indulge in tradition or a traveler seeking authentic small-town charm, Johnny Appleseed Days promises an unforgettable experience for all. The free two-day event is California’s oldest harvest festival (dating all the way back to 1888!) and a cherished tradition that draws visitors from near and far. 


When you step into the festivities, you'll be greeted by the crisp autumn air and the scent of freshly-baked apple pies. Some event highlights include:


  • Family Activities: Stop by story time with Johnny Appleseed himself and try your luck at the games plaza. There will also be arts and crafts, face painting, and more, a perfect opportunity to create lasting memories with loved ones.


  • Delicious Food: Your taste buds will be delighted by fresh apple pie and a variety of apples picked from the local orchard, Noble Orchards. There will also be a selection of mouthwatering delights at Johnny Appleseed’s Food Court.


  • Artisan Crafts and Vendors: Stroll through the artisan craft fair and browse unique, handmade items. This is a great opportunity to pick up one-of-a-kind gifts and souvenirs.


  • Hometown Talent: Enjoy live performances throughout the day that set the perfect backdrop for your  activities.

Blues and Brews

When

  • Saturday Oct. 5th, from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m.


Where


Immerse yourself in the smooth rhythms and electrifying guitar riffs of talented blues artists.


The bands on the line up are: Big Mo, Soulfistication, Second Hand Smoke and Soul Posse. Find a spot near the stage and soak in the soulful sounds of live blues performances. The talented musicians will keep you entertained throughout the afternoon. Don't forget to bring your dancing shoes! The pavilion offers a spacious dance floor and Paradise loves to bust a move.


Relax in the beer and wine garden and make a new friend or two! There will be food available for purchase and all the proceeds go to scholarships for Paradise students.

Hiking and Cycling on The Ridge

An excellent way to spend time outdoors on The Ridge and beyond is by hiking or cycling. There are a number of trails for all skill levels to enjoy throughout the year. Bust out your best hiking shoes or mountain bike and take a look at some of the trails below to explore. Yellowstone Kelly Heritage Trail The Yellowstone Kelly Heritage Trail spans 5.1 miles along what was once the Butte County Railroad. A perfect trail for all experience levels, you may even spot a deer or two along your way [FYI on the Ridge, you might spot a deer in your bathroom]. If you have some time, take a moment to read the plaques along the trail which tells the story of Paradise pioneers and the community local history.  Plan your trip around a visit to Paradise Community Park and the Depot Museum, adjacent to the trail or take a detour to shops and restaurants along Skyway.
