Guide to Outdoor Activities During Open House Weekend

Everyone who visits Paradise and Magalia during Open House Weekend will get special opportunities to experience the natural beauty of our home. There are a number of exciting activities to be a part of throughout the whole weekend!


Read on for a handy guide to these experiences and activities. Some of them require a reservation or signup, so make sure you don't miss your chance!

Immerse Yourself in Natural Beauty


Guided Hike Around Paradise Lake with Paradise Recreation and Park District (PRPD)

SATURDAY: Enjoy a guided hike around Paradise Lake with PRPD Recreation Supervisor, Scott Amick. Meet at Lucretia Road Entrance Trailhead for a short orientation, then start the hike that will go around the lake to Boat Launch #2. The hike should take about 3 hours, round trip, at a slow pace. Bring water, snacks, and wear sunscreen. There will be a vehicle at the boat launch #2 if you prefer to shuttle back.

Kayak around Paradise Lake

ALL WEEKEND: Head over to Paradise Lake for a scenic kayak ride you'll never forget! Make your reservation here ($20) by noon the prior day, and pick up your kayak at boat launch #2. Reservations last for two hours & reservations times are 10am or 12pm.

Celebrate National Trails Day at the new Bille Park lower trails

ALL WEEKEND: Take a stroll along the new trail at Bille Park, officially opening during Open House Weekend, and enjoy the views and new signage.

Orchard Walks, Outdoor Story Time, and Delicious Treats at Noble Orchards

ALL WEEKEND: Explore the lovely orchards and nursery, enjoy coffee & apple coffee cake, and bring the kids for an outdoor Johnny Appleseed story time - surrouned by real apple trees!  The nursery and the historic stone building will be open for sales.

ALL WEEKEND: Enjoy a game at South Pines Disc Golf, located at Magalia Community Park! Meet and chat with members from Magalia Community Park from 9am-5pm and browse the pro shop.
